Do you want to shed some pounds?
The popular Jump Into Shape fitness challenge began Tuesday with weigh-ins taking place at Womack Army Medical Center’s Weaver Auditorium.
According to Program Manager Jennifer Beeman, the weigh-ins will continue until June 29 and are mandatory for anyone who wants to participate in the weight-loss program. An orientation is
scheduled for Monday at 12:15 p.m. at the Weaver Auditorium and the contest is set to kick off Feb. 1.
“I’m hoping for at least 200 people this year,” Beeman said. “We have big prizes to award and we want to get as many people as possible.”
Beeman explained that this year’s competition differs for last year’s because of the type of prizes that will be awarded.
“Last year, we couldn’t do big prizes because the competition was attached to research and that wasn’t allowed,” she explained. “This year, we can give away big prizes like iPod shuffles or heart monitors. It should be a really good competition.”
The competition features categories for both genders and participants may also compete as part of a team or as individual competitors.
Registration packets are now available and can be picked up at the Womack Nutrition Care Division classroom.
