Sergeant Kevin Osborn and his son, Kevin Jr., talk with country singer, Craig Morgan, during his visit to the North Post Exchange, Friday.

For Michele O’Brien waiting in line for an autograph was not a big deal, especially since it was her husband’s favorite country singer — Craig Morgan.

“This is really for my husband who is deployed,” she told Morgan. “I promised him I’d be here.”
Morgan laughed and joked with her and other fans as he signed his latest CD, “That’s Why,” at his meet and greet at Fort Bragg’s north Post
Exchange, Friday.

O’Brien’s husband, Lt. Col. Robert O’Brien, a battalion commander with the 4th Brigade Combat Team, is scheduled to return from his deployment in about six weeks.
Stephanie Kalick excitedly stood in line with her brother’s guitar to get it signed. Even though she’s one of Morgan’s biggest fans, all she wanted was for Morgan to sign the guitar so she could give it to her brother as a gift for receiving his first communion.

Morgan, originally from Nashville, Tenn., is no stranger to Fort Bragg. He was stationed at Fort Bragg from 1990 to 1992 as an 82nd Airborne Division Soldier. Morgan spent 10 years on active duty with the Army prior to beginning his music career and now performs for military members and their Families regularly. He described his visits to Fort Bragg as exciting and said he always feels welcomed.

“Fort Bragg was as close to home as it got,” he said. “I had real Family while stationed here, and some of my dearest friends are still here.”

Morgan, along with Sons of Sylvia, opened for Carrie Underwood, Friday, at the Crown Center Coliseum in Fayetteville as part of her “Play On” concert tour.
