7th Special Forces Group to host BRAC Town Hall meeting

7th SFG PAO

The workforce board of Oskaloosa and Walton counties, two counties expected to reap benefits from the 7th Special Forces Group’s move to Florida next summer, will host a town hall meeting for Special Forces Soldiers and their Families at the Crown Expo Center in Fayetteville, May 11 and 12.

The purpose of the meeting is to help the 7th SFG Soldiers and Families gain a better understanding of its new home using seminars addressing employment, education, health care, housing, and a host of other issues. More than organizations representing the area have been invited to attend and will sponsor booths providing information resources. Seminars will start at 9 a.m. and noon on both days.

The Base Realignment and Closure Commission directed the 7th’s move in 2005. The 7th numbers about 2,200 Soldiers and includes five battalions, and a headquarters staff. Also moving to Florida will be about 4,000 Family members.
