Picerne Military Housing district manager, William Booth, left, along with other members of the Linden Oaks Neighborhood staff, welcomed Staff Sgt. Jeremiah Jansen and his Family, center to the Linden Oaks neighborhood. The Jansen Family is the 1000th Family to call Linden Oaks home. Picerne Military Housing celebrated with an ice-cream cake welcoming party. Pictured left to right are William Booth, Judy Steele, Natalie Jansen, Staff Sgt. Red, white and blue balloons and a cake with “1,000!” written in icing greeted the Jansen Family at the door of their new home in Fort Bragg’s Linden Oaks community July 13.

The impromptu celebration was hosted by Picerne Military Housing to commemorate the community’s milestone of growth and the 1,000th Family to call Linden Oaks home.

Located eight miles north of Fort Bragg’s main access control point off N.C. Highway 87, Linden Oaks is a more suburban alternative to traditional on-post housing. The community provides all the benefits of living on post and the appeal of a gated community with a monitored access control point.

Staff Sgt. Jeremiah Jansen, his wife Michelle and their three daughters have already begun settling into their new home.

While 5-year-old Mikayla Jansen enjoyed a heaping slice of ice cream cake, 1-year-old Izabella Jansen toddled around helping to unwrap the dining room table which was purchased specifically for the spacious new home.  All Linden Oaks homes have four bedrooms, with the smallest floor plan measuring almost 2,000 square feet.

Mikayla said she was excited to have a pool and playground in the neighborhood. “We don’t have to drive always and take forever to do what we want.”

Linden Oaks is the only privatized neighborhood on Fort Bragg to boast all new construction. Every street, home and amenity in Linden Oaks was constructed and developed by Picerne Military Housing, Fort Bragg’s on-post housing partner.

“Linden Oaks, more than any other Fort Bragg neighborhood, exemplifies Picerne Military Housing’s vision,” said John Shay, who heads Picerne’s operations at Fort Bragg.

Picerne Military Housing began land development for Linden Oaks in August 2006 and opened the gates of the community to Families less than a year later. Shortly after the first Families moved in, the community’s first neighborhood center was opened in June 2007.

The Linden Oaks Neighborhood Center includes amenities such as a fitness center, indoor half-court gymnasium, game room, resort-style swimming pool, computer lab and multi-purpose room. A second Neighborhood Center will open in December to accommodate the growing number of residents in the community.

Linden Oaks is home to enlisted, warrant officer and officer Families. Close to 4,000 military Family members already call Linden Oaks home.  Over 1,200 homes are planned for the 1,100 acre area. The remaining 135 homes will be completed by 2013.

Since opening, Linden Oaks residents have experienced many new and exciting developments. The community is now home to more than just residential houses. In January 2009, Gordon Elementary School opened its doors.  In addition, construction of a Department of Defense Child Development Center is nearly complete. The CDC will likely open later this year and two additional schools are planned.

Linden Oaks residents also enjoy community amenities such as a Picerne Bark Park, which is a fenced area for dogs, and nature walking trails.

Construction of a new leadership in energy and environmental design platinum certified police and fire station in the community will be completed in October.

Throughout the past three years, Linden Oaks has developed into a unique community offering exceptional service to its residents.
