Fort Bragg uses Antiterrorism Awareness Month
to instill heightened vigilance

Fort Bragg is observing its Antiterrorism Awareness Month during August.
The purpose of the AT Awareness Month is to instill and sustain heightened awareness and vigilance to prevent and protect the Fort Bragg community and critical resources from acts of terrorism.
Leaders, Soldiers, civilians and Family members will better understand the key AT concepts, principles, roles, responsibilities and suspicious activity reporting procedures. Additionally, this campaign will strengthen relationships with local civilian emergency response agencies such as police, fire, and medical, in order to enhance responses to acts of terrorism and other hazardous events.
Fort Bragg will use the following themes to emphasize the importance of AT awareness during the month:
Educate Fort Bragg population to recognizing and reporting suspicious activity and high risk behavior through the following means:
- Publicize suspicious activity reporting procedures for Soldiers, DA civilians and Family members.
- Utilize and distribute iWATCH / 90 – REACT posters and cards.
- Run iWATCH videos daily on Fort Bragg Channel 7 during August.
- Display iWATCH posters in prominent locations throughout the installation.
- Post AT awareness article in the Paraglide during the last publication in July and entire month of August.
- Post AT awareness flyers in the Picerne Military Housing areas and publish iWATCH/90-REACT information and article in the Picerne Newsletter.
- Display AT awareness messages on marquees and bulletin boards throughout the installation.
Train and inform on active shooter response procedures:
Security and Intelligence Division will provide active shooter training class slides to all unit antiterrorism officers throughout the installation.
Unit AT officers will provide instruction to Soldiers, civilians and Family members to ensure they understand the procedures to follow in the event of experiencing an active shooter. Security and

Apply doctrinal principles of antiterrorism:
- Unit level review of AT roles and responsibilities within garrison commands and stand-alone facilities.
- Unit ATOs complete an AT program review in accordance with Fort Bragg Regulation 525-13, Para ragraph 3-32, Standard 31 (Comprehensive AT Program Review), using Appendix G (Management Control Evaluation Checklist).
- Distribute antiterrorism principles handout to units along with information packets from Department of the Army headquarters.
Integrating AT into the operations:
- Units will conduct basic AT training, education and awareness for Soldiers, civilians and Family members.
- Organizations will ensure 100 percent of military and Department of Defense/DA civilians are current on AT Level I training and post compliance memorandum on Fort Bragg’s Web emergency operation center.
- All personnel will view the vice chief of staff of the Army AT video and AT community awareness video. These videos will also run on Fort Bragg Channel 7.
The Fort Bragg Protection Branch encourages all personnel to take a minute to review upcoming all AT awareness messages, videos and handouts that will be distributed through the following outlets: Fayetteville Observer newspaper, Fort Bragg Paraglide newspaper, August Picerne Newsletter, Fort Bragg’s Facebook page and website, Army awareness posters on bulletin and marquee boards, banners, and iWATCH Army public service announcements being played on Channel 7 and AM 1700 during the month of August.
