Sanitary sewer smoke testing is scheduled for the following Fort Bragg main cantonment areas October and November:
Areas – 8
Pope Housing adjacent to Butner Road and Bragg Boulevard
Division areas and housing West of the All American Expressway.
Smoke testing is being performed in the areas noted above to identify unauthorized connections to the Fort Bragg sanitary sewer system. Unauthorized water, including ground water and storm water, can cause an unnecessary load on the Wastewater Treatment Plants, and could potentially cause sanitary sewer overflows
During the testing, a special, non-toxic smoke is forced into the sewer lines in your area. Smoke that exits the sewer system will be observed and identified by ONUS field technicians. Smoke may be observed coming from the earth, storm system, roof drains, floor drains, or interior plumbing.
To prevent smoke from entering buildings please run water in infrequently used sinks, toilets or other potable water appurtenances. The smoke leaves no residuals or stains and has no effect on plants or animals. Direct contact with the smoke may cause minor respiratory irritation for some people.
For any questions, concerns, or additional information, contact Old North Utilities at 495-1311.
