Military wife starts blog

The Army lifestyle appeals to so many people right now, said Amy Bonner, the wife of a Fort Bragg Soldier.

So much so that the 29-year-old decided to share some of her thoughts as a military spouse and mother on her blog at clickclackmom.com.

“I’m getting a lot of feedback from people who aren’t in the military but are kind of interested in this life,” Bonner said. “There’s interest in people who just have to live a little bit differently; who have a unique lifestyle,” she said.

Bonner first began her blog in July. She has posted about trying to find the best and cheapest way to communicate with her husband and about not missing any text messages from him when he is deployed.

“And today I can’t tell you how many times I have looked down at my phone to see if there was a text from my husband,” she blogged. “Not to mention, I am on guard for a message whether I am in the shower or putting Jackson to sleep.”

Jackson is her 8-month old son.

Bonner blogs about the guilt Army wives feel about possibly missing a telephone call from their husbands when the wives are doing something as simple as taking a shower.

The post received various comments, one of which was from Tamar, who wrote, “I totally understand! I am a former Army wife and had to live through a year deployment. It stinks!! But my gosh you’re so proud of em when you take a step back and think about their job! At least I always was.”

Lynn Corey, a reader who lives in Rhode Island, said by e-mail that she visits the blog regularly because Bonner tackles topics with authenticity.

“It is extremely accessible to people, regardless of their background, whether you’re a new mom, Army wife, career woman, stay-at-home-mother or grandmother, her topics transcend a specific demographic,” Corey said.

Click Clack Mom receives about 70 visits per day, said Bonner, who maintains the site with the help of a guidebook. More than 2,100 people visited her site during the month of September.
Bonner said that she plans to continue the blog and has upcoming goals for Click Clack Mom.
“My goal eventually will be to create an additional source of income from it, but my goal right now is to increase my audience.”
