E.E. Smith High School opened its gates to the Fort Bragg-Pope Air Force Base community Friday by holding a military appreciation night during its game against rival South View.
E.E. Smith has become Fort Bragg’s adoptive high school and numerous Fort Bragg Soldiers and their Family members were in attendance to the event.
Fort Bragg’s Garrison Commander, Col. Stephen J. Sicinski, and Civil Affairs Psychological Operations Commander, Maj. Gen. David N. Blackledge served as honorary captains of the football game.
Blackledge is also a 1971 graduate of E.E. Smith High School and is also a twice-wounded combat veteran.
In partnership with E.E. Smith High School, the post hosted teen activities at the Tolson Youth Activities Center to promote the event. While there, teens were treated to a pre-game tailgate Party with food and drinks.
