No new deployment orders have been received by the 82nd Airborne Division in response to President Barack Obama’s announcement on troop increases in Afghanistan Tuesday. Unit deployments are announced by the Department of Defense.

President Obama outlined his plans for U.S. forces in Afghanistan during his speech from West Point.

The 82nd Airborne Division remains committed to its mission to deploy worldwide, on short notice to conduct combat operations and to accomplish the nation’s objectives.
