Get the clubs out: The next Commanding General’s Pay Day Golf Scramble is scheduled for March 3, at Ryder Golf Course. Registration is at 10:30 a.m. for a noon shotgun start with meal following the tournament. The event is open to the public and is an 18 hole scramble. A tie for championship will be settled by a scorecard playoff beginning with the #1 handicap hole. Entry fee is $140 per team or $35 per person, and fees include green and cart fees, range balls before tournament, meal with trimmings and refreshments, as well as prizes and awards ceremony. Friday Fight Nights: Amateur boxers are invited to come out to Sports USA for a night of fun, Friday, at 7:30 p.m., and help us support “Children of the Fallen Project,” a group formed to help children of men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. Duck Derby 5K: This year, Fayetteville Urban Ministry, Inc. and Camping World have decided to spice things up a bit and kick off the world famous Fayetteville Duck Derby with the 2nd Annual Duck Derby 5K, Feb. 25, at Camping World of Fayetteville. Race Winners or “Top Ducks” will receive and autographed picture with the Quacky, a free duck for the Fayetteville Duck Derby, and a trophy. Pets and strollers are welcome. Anderson Creek Club 5K/10K: Come out for the 10th annual 10K, 5K and 1 mile fun walk in the gated community of Anderson Creek Club, Feb. 25. Enjoy the brisk February morning temperatures as you run/jog the mild rolling hills nestled along a Davis Love III Golf Course. Runners will pick up their race packet up at Overhills High School, starting at 6:30 a.m. on the day of the race. The first shuttle will depart OHS for Anderson Creek Club at 7:30 a.m. and the last will leave at 8:40 a.m. The 10K will start at 9 a.m., 5K at 9:10 a.m. and the 1 Mile Fun Walk at 9:20 a.m. All proceeds will go to Overhills High School. Robeson road races: The Robeson Road Runners race club has a pair of signature events coming up in March, one for runners and one for cyclists. The Rumba on the Lumber, which features 10K, 5K and one-mile foot races, is March 4. The Ride Robeson bike ride follows on March 5. The Ride Robeson gives riders the option of choosing between a metric century distance and a 20-mile course. The Rumba on the Lumber has long been the Robeson Road Runners’ largest event and includes a chili cookoff, kids’ activities and live music. Registration for the Rumba on the Lumber’s 10K and 5K events is $30. Robeson Road Runners club members get a $5 discount. Entry in the one-mile run is free.
