Just as runners are hard at work preparing for the All-American Marathon and Mike-to-Mike Half Marathon on March 26, so too are event organizers, but come marathon day, organizers will rely heavily on volunteers.
Hundreds of volunteer opportunities are available from handing out marathon bibs at the Health and Fitness Expo, March 25 to working the water stations along the marathon course.
Other volunteer positions include course marshals, whose duties include directing and encouraging runners along the course; tear down crewmembers, who will help tear down tables, chairs, trash and signage after the race and start and finish line gear check attendants, who will collect, organize, and distribute bags to runners.
In addition to participating in a unique and rewarding experience, volunteers will receive a free T-shirt and volunteer hours.
Volunteers must be 12 years of age on race day, and if under the age of 16, must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Volunteer opportunities are open to the public.
