There will be a little more joy for some Fayetteville/Fort Bragg area children this year, as Soldiers and Army civilian employees of the U.S. Army Forces Command, G4 (Logistics) Directorate came together to aid the Cumberland County, N.C., Department of Social Services by providing Christmas gifts for 135 area foster children.??Representatives of the DSS Adoption and Foster Care Program joined the G4 team at their annual holiday luncheon, where the gifts, labeled for each child, were presented to them for delivery to the foster Families in time for Christmas.

“On behalf of the Social Services Department and our county, we’d like to thank you all for taking this on and supporting our children,” said Sandra Robinson, a recruiter and social worker for the department.

“In addition to making Christmas a little brighter for these children, acts like this give us the opportunity to reinforce to them (the children) that people in the community care about them.”

This was the second year the G4 has conducted this program, with 75 Soldiers and Army civilian employees donating. In 2011, 54 staff members ensured 100 children received gifts.??There are 600 Cumberland County children in foster care.??“We’re glad to have developed a continuous relationship with the folks at FORSCOM,” Robinson said. “And the children? They know.”
