Soldiers of the 525th Military Intelligence Brigade cased the Brigade Colors during a ceremony, March 9, at Lightning Field to signify their upcoming deployment to the Middle East.

The brigade will conduct intelligence operations in support of the Commander of Resolute Support and United Security Forces-Afghanistan throughout the Combined Joint Operations Area-Afghanistan.

‘Lightning’ Brigade Commander Col. James E. Walker spoke of the brigade’s legacy and how the deploying Soldiers will contribute to keeping that legacy ongoing.

“These Soldiers find themselves staring down another historic mission and they can draw from their past experiences to help guide them through their upcoming deployment,” said. Walker. “Many Soldiers on the field today have written this chapter of history before and will do so again.”

Walker alluded to the readiness of the brigade to meet the challenges that lie ahead in the weeks to come as he neared the end of his speech.

“This ceremony marks the 525th MI brigade’s preparedness for its wartime mission and is just one of the many symbols of the Army’s ongoing efforts to ensure that it can fight and win our nation’s wars while satisfying combatant commanders’ requirements around the globe,” said Walker. “As the brigade colors are cased today, I can confidently report that the Soldiers that serve under those colors are extremely well-trained on the tasks they must accomplish, are disciplined in the execution of their duties and are mentally, physically and spiritually fit.”
