A budding tradition initiated by the Turkish Army, World NCO Day seeks to honor non-commissioned officers from all nationals and branches of service. The Turkish Retired NCO Association, with its 89 branches celebrated the 1st World NCO’s Day in 2012, but the initiative began in 2011 with Yüksel BNC, a retired NCO from the Turkish Army.  World NCO Day also marked the conclusion of the United Endeavor 2014 training exercise that saw more than 240 XVIII Airborne Corps Soldiers travel to Europe to train with service members from NATO partner nations in preparation for their deployment to Kabul, Afghanistan early 2014.
