After much planning on the behalf of the Fort Bragg National Customer Service Week committee, various agencies at the Soldier Support Center were available to show their appreciation to the Soldiers, retirees, Family members and Department of the Army civilians in a festive and hospitable fashion.
National Customer Service Week was celebrated Oct. 1 to 5, to raise awareness of customer service and the vital role it plays in the success of an organization.
“This week was proclaimed by former President Bush in October of 1992 in an effort to make people aware of the value of customer service,” said Sgt. Maj. Yolanda Tate, Fort Bragg Garrison command sergeant major and guest speaker for the opening ceremony.
“The main point of this week is to keep getting better in our customer service efforts and show our customers that we genuinely care about their needs.”
In keeping with former President Bush’s proclamation, the employees of the Soldier Support Center pledge their commitment to customer satisfaction while serving and supporting their customers and coworkers throughout the year.
“The theme for this year’s event is ‘Putting the Pieces of Customer Service Together to Provide Excellent Customer Service’, said Nan Sanders, director of human resources. “In the challenging times that we are experiencing due to cutbacks in personnel, we still want our customers to know that we are passionate and addressing any concerns that our customers may have.”
During the week there were many festive and morale boosting activities for both the employees and the customers.
Crazy Hat and Tie day allowed the employees to show their fun and creative side and participants wore funny hats and ties.
On a more serious note, the day was set aside as Worthy Cause Day, in an effort to show support for a good cause.
At the end of the week, participants showed their team spirit by wearing clothing items supporting their favorite sports team.
According to Thomas Battle, the committee chairperson, raising awareness of the crucial role customer service plays in building positive reputations and increasing customer loyalty.
“Not only is this week dedicated to the customer, but to our employees as well, who go above and beyond to ensure that our customers are satisfied.”
