With the New Year, many people are resolving to lose weight and get healthy, stop smoking, learning something new, spending time with Family and saving money or getting out of debt. There are many programs and services at Fort Bragg that can help people achieve their resolutions. Each week this month Iíll cover the programs and services people can turn to for help, right here on the installation.
Those who want to save money or get their finances in order can turn to the Army Community Service Financial Readiness Program.
The program offers professional financial counselors to help service members and their Families with a variety of financial services.
They can assist with questions about military pay, can help with debit card management, financial responsibility, credit reporting and can help develop strategies to eliminate debt and increase savings. These services are available by appointment.
In addition to helping individuals with personal financial goals, the program provides classes including personal financial management training, savings and investment, checkbook management and budget and debt management. Units who need to fulfill training requirements can also customize financial classes to be taught on-site.
The following financial classes will be offered in January:
Personal Financial Management Training, Jan. 12, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Budget and Debt Management, Jan. 19, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Command Financial Noncommissioned Officer Course, Jan. 23, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
For a full listing of classes or for more information, call 396-2507 or visit https://bragg.armymwr.com/us/bragg/programs/frp.
The program can help service members learn more about other programs and services such as Army Emergency Relief a private and nonprofit organization established to help service members and their Families in emergency financial situations and scholarship information.
Those who receive unfair business practices in the area can also seek guidance from the programís Consumer Complaint Office.
The Financial Readiness Program is located on the third floor of the Soldier Support Center. It is open Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
