Open to the public, the volksmarch cost $5 in advance, $10 the day of the event and will be free for children 12 and under.
Pre-registration can be done at Leisure Travel Services, Building 4-2171, in the Mini Mall on Reilly Street. Registration can also be done at Smith Lake on event day. The first 500 paid registrants will receive a commemorative mug.
In addition to the sale of German cuisine, other activities will include live entertainment, hayrides, dog costume contest, kidz korner and pumpkin decorating.

The youth day will be open to Gold Star and active-duty serviciemembers and their Families.
Activities will include four wheeling, a BB gun range and fishing at Maple Creek Farm.
Participants should meet at the Airborne and Special Operations Museum at 9 a.m., on the day of the event to caravan to the venue.

Patriot Hunts is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing recreation opportunities for Gold Star and military-connected servicemembers and Families.
• Waterway Run/Walk: A 5k/10K run/walk and one miler will take place Saturday, 8 a.m., at Waterfront Park, in Elizabeth City, N.C. Cost is $10 to $30 depending on walk or run participation. Registration closing date is Friday.
• Tuna run: A 200-mile run for ultra runners, Oct. 19, at 6 a.m. to Oct. 20 at 11:59 p.m.
The event will begin in Lake Benson Park in Garner, N.C. and will conclude at Atlantic Beach, N.C. Cost is $500 to $950, depending on number of runners from four to 12 persons.
