Get the clubs out: The next Commanding Generalís Pay Day Golf Scramble is scheduled for Friday, at Ryder Golf Course. Registration is at 10:30 a.m. for a noon shotgun start with a meal following the tournament. The event is open to the public and is an 18-hole scramble. A tie for the championship will be settled by a scorecard playoff beginning with the #1 handicap hole. Entry fee is $140 per team or $35 per person, and fees include green and cart fees, range balls before tournament, meal with trimmings and refreshments, as well as prizes and awards ceremony. Stableford Championship: Saturday. 18 holes of individual stroke play using the Stableford scoring system. The scoring for the Stableford system is made by points awarded in relation to a fixed score at each hole. Entry is open to any amateur golfer. The minimum age for entry is 13 years as of the tournament date. Prizes are awarded for low gross and low net scores in all divisions. The field will be divided into four divisions based upon gender and age. Players may choose to compete in any division in which they are eligible. Men (all ages) will play from the white tees. Senior men (55 years old and over) may play from the black tees. Super senior men (65 years old and older) may play from the black tees. Ladies will play from the green tees. Triangle Race for the Cure: Join Susan G. Komen Triangle for the annual Race for the Cure, Saturday, 7 a.m. The festivities will take place at the Frontier at Research Triangle Park in Durham, North Carolina. The Race is a 5K route. Run for the Buddies: Grab your running shoes May 13 and come out for the fourth year of the Run for the Buddies 5K and a 1 mile Fun Run at New Century Middle School in Cameron, North Carolina. Registration is $15 for the 1 mile Fun Run and $25 for the 5K race. This event supports Communities in Schools of Moore County. Derby Run: The Derby Run is in memory of Justin Lopes, a graduate of Terry Sanford High School who passed away on July 15, 2014. The second annual event starts at Terry Sanford High School and continues through the scenic Haymont area, May 20.
