Cost is $5 in advance and $10 the day of the event. Children 12 and under will be admitted free.

Participants may begin route between 9 a.m. and noon.

Pre-registration can be done at Leisure Travel Services (Building 4-2171) in the Mini Mall on Reilly Street. Registration is at Smith Lake on the day of the event.

The first 500 paid registrants will receive a commemorative mug.

Dogs are welcome; however, vaccinations must be current and dogs must be on a leash. Dog owners must be compliant with the XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg Regulation 40-5, which covers responsible pet ownership.

The Volksmarch  will feature German cuisine for sale, live entertainment, dog costume contest, hayrides, Kidz Korner and pumpkin decorating.

JSOC run

The run/walk will begin at 8 a.m. and is a USA Track and Field certified event.

It is sponsored by the Special Operations Communicators Association.

Pre-registration by Oct. 26 will cost $25 and includes a T-shirt, finishers coin, food and drink.

A pick-up race packet will be available from 6 to 7:30 a.m. on race day at McKellar’s Lodge.

Pre-race packet pick-up can be done Nov. 8, at Sports USA, from 3 to 7 p.m. and on Nov. 9, at Dick’s Sporting Goods on Skibo Road, from noon to 3 p.m.

Late registrations of $30 may be accepted at Sports USA, Nov. 8; Dick’s Sporting Goods, Nov. 9; or from 6 to 7:30 a.m., at McKellar’s Lodge on event day.

Send a registration form, (which can be downloaded at www.thesoca.org) and check or money order (payable to SOCA) no later than Oct. 26, to SOCA, P.O. Box 73409, Fort Bragg, N.C. 28307-5002.

Awards will be given for first, second and third place 10k finishers in different age and gender categories.

Youth day

The event is open to all Gold Star and active-duty servicemembers and their Families.

Activities will include pony rides, zip lining and fishing.
