About 3500 people showed up for a night of country and rock ‘n’ roll at the Fort Bragg Fairgrounds, Saturday.
The Gang of Outlaws tour featuring country star Gretchen Wilson, alternative rock band 3 Doors Down and headliners ZZ Top, gave Fort Bragg concert goers three, hit-filled hours of entertainment.
Chris Barrett, a former Sailor from Fayetteville, was looking forward to hearing 3 Doors Down.
Fellow fan Sue Moynihan, a Fort Bragg Family member, enjoyed listening to Wilson. “She has a beautiful voice,” she said.
Staff Sgt. Ricky Walters, 108th Air Defense Air Defense Artillery Brigade, and his wife, Sylvia, had different reasons for attending the concert. Walters’ music taste leaned towards country music and enjoyed Wilson’s performance while rock ‘n’ roll fan Sylvia was waiting for ZZ Top. Both of them agreed that all the musical acts would be great. “This is a great concert to see,” said Sylvia. “A great opportunity to relax and have a beer.”
For a future concert at Fort Bragg, Walters said she would love to see George Straight while Sylvia shouted out “Staind!” Country singer Jason Aldean was Barrett’s pick.
Fort Bragg’s Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Directorate sponsored the concert in conjunction with Army Entertainment’s Army Concert Series.
