Our community is full of talented students, and this spring choir Director Beth Gilliard will share some of her students’ talents with the “Big Apple.”

The choir, called the TWD Touring Choir, which is made up of 31 musically talented students from Tyro Middle and West Davidson High School, will descend on New York City during spring break. While there, the group will see musicals, and attend a variety of workshops. They will also have the opportunity to do the normal touristy things, but first and foremost they will be performing at the Cathedral of St. John the Devine.

Members were selected based on voice, behavior and being in the choir during this school year

Members of the TWD Touring Choir are Prisila Benitez, Jerry Charlston, Ashton Dorman, Cliff Follenius, Grant Gayton, Chloe Greer, Jessica Grubb, Peyton Haltom, Sarah Hutchins, Kat Kepley, Audri Knight, Maelyn Knight, Catherine Lehenseder, Colby Leonard, Kelby Leonard, Cody Lineberry, Jillian MacKinnon, Elizabeth Marsh, Sean McGuffin, Conner Milstead, Rachel Morgan, Ryder Newell, Grace Nyuon, Olivia Phillips, Trey Phillips, Emma Pope, Carson Shoaf, Zac Smith, Abigail Wilson, Alana York and Sara Shoaf.

In order to do this, they have planned a concert/fundraiser to help with the cost of the trip.

Beginning at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 10, the group will perform at the Thomasville Church of God followed by a spaghetti dinner and show at 5:15 in the gym. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased by calling Director Beth Gilliard at (336) 853-7795. Please help support this fine group of talent.

Celebrate milestones

Daniel and Valerie Moll welcomed a new blue snow bundle of joy on Jan. 16. Warner Canaan arrived during the “blizzard of 2018” weighing in at 9 pounds, 7 ½ ounce.  His big brothers are Will, Wriley and Waylon. His proud grandparents are Pastor Marty and Judy Wilson and Eugene and Margaret Moll, all of Lexington and Janet and Heniz Swarz of Australia. Little Warner will share his birthdays with his pawpaw Marty, who does not foresee that as a problem only a positve. So happy belated birthday to Marty Wilson.
