Fort Bragg is shaking up this year’s July 4 celebration. While Families can still enjoy all the same events offered during the annual celebration, the schedule has changed.
The fireworks “Concert in the Sky” will immediately follow the Chase Rice concert, which is the evening’s featured musical act.
Previously, the flag ceremony and presentations preceded the fireworks show. This year, the flag ceremony will take place around 6:15 p.m., before the JC Allstars concert. The senior commander Iron Mike presentations and remarks will kick off after the JC Allstars finish up.
Fort Bragg leadership instituted the change after reviewing feedback from past events, said Rhett Stroupe, special events coordinator, Family and Morale, Welfare and Education, recreation division.
Organizers hope the changes will help build up excitement and finish the important celebrations on a high note.
“It’s a patriotic event,” Stroupe said. “It’s a time for the community, military and civilians to come together and honor our Soldiers and their Families for what they do day-in and day-out.”
The event is open to the public and no visitor’s passes are required, however, visitors will be subject to vehicle inspections.
New food vendors will make an appearance at this year’s festivities as well, including one with health and gluten-free options. However, make sure to bag up any trash from that delicious food. Fort Bragg’s Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation asks all revelers to bring trash bags to keep the Parade Field clean.
FWMR staff will collect all bagged trash after the celebrations conclude.
Stroupe encouraged all members of the community to come out to the Main Post Parade Field for the festivities.
“We’re celebrating America’s birthday with America’s finest and it doesn’t get any better than that,” Stroupe said.
