Firewood available: Forestry Branch, Directorate of Public Works has firewood permits available through the Hunting and Fishing Center on Fort Bragg for military personnel and civilians. Permits are $5 for a half cord of firewood and are valid for one day.
Permitted firewood collection is restricted to non-standing, dead trees and areas are coordinated through the hunting and fishing center.
Permit holders are not allowed to gather firewood within red cockaded woodpecker cluster sites during the breeding season — April 1 to July 31. Firewood collection is authorized Wednesday to Saturday.
North PX Pharmacy: The newly renovated Womack Army Medical Center North Post Exchange Pharmacy is now open for electronic prescription and paper civilian prescription processing and pick-up.
Individuals dropping off hard copy prescriptions at the pharmacy window will have their new prescriptions ready within two hours, providing them the opportunity to take advantage of the time to shop or grab a meal at the food court.
A drop box is also available for next day pick up.
The North PX Pharmacy is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed for lunch from 1 to 2 p.m.
Veteran counseling offered: The Vet Center offers active-duty service members and veterans counseling services. These services are free and strictly confidential. The Fayetteville Vet Center is located at 2301 Robeson St., Suite 103, Fayetteville.
The center is open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Counseling services are designed to assist eligible active-duty service members and veterans in making a successful transition on and off the battlefield to civilian life.
Services include individual counseling, group counseling, marital and Family counseling, military sexual trauma counseling, and referrals as needed.
Veterans and active-duty service members can call for an initial appointment or walk-in.

Soldier’s transition facilitated: The Fort Bragg Transition Center conducts a Pre-Separation Services Program briefing for Soldiers (excluding retirees) that are within 180 days of separation from the Army.
The briefing is designed to give the Soldier and spouse relevant information in advance of separation to facilitate planning for a successful transition to civilian life.
The briefing will take place the first Monday of every month, unless it is a holiday, then it will move to the second Monday, at 1 p.m. at the Pope Annex. No appointment is necessary to attend.
Dental Accreditation: The Commission on Dental Accreditation is conducting a review of the endodontic residency on Sept. 14, at the United States Army Dental Activity, Fort Bragg. As part of the accreditation process, the program is required to solicit input from third parties pertaining to the standards for the program or policies and procedures used in the commission’s accreditation process.
