Get the clubs out: The next Commanding General’s Pay Day Golf Scramble is scheduled for July 7, at Ryder Golf Course. Registration is at 10:30 a.m. for a noon shotgun start with a meal following the tournament. The event is open to the public and is an 18-hole scramble. A tie for the championship will be settled by a scorecard playoff beginning with the #1 handicap hole. Entry fee is $140 per team or $35 per person, and fees include green and cart fees, range balls before tournament, meal with trimmings and refreshments, as well as prizes and awards ceremony. Junior Golf Clinics: The next session of the Junior Golf Clinic is Monday, Wednesday and June 30, at Ryder Golf Course. Each session lasts from 8:30 to 11 a.m. with lunch right after the clinic. Each session is $20 per student, and are limited to the first 20 students. The clinics are open to military and Department of Defense dependents, ages 6 to 16 years old. Fort Bragg 5K Walk/Run: This month’s Fort Bragg 5K is Saturday, at Longstreet and Reilly roads, near Hedrick Stadium. The event is free and open to Department of Defense card holders and their guests. No registration required. Strollers and dogs are welcome. There will be a raffle for gifts and prizes at 10 a.m., as well as Wellness and Healthy Living vendors.

World of Beer Mile: Join in the first annual Beer Mile, at World of Beer in Fayetteville, Saturday. They are excited to partner with Fleet Feat to raise money for Task Force Dagger. They are an amazing charity here in Fayetteville, so come out and help raise some money for a great cause. Registration at 9 a.m. The first group will start their run at 9:30 a.m. and the second will start at 10 a.m. The relay race will begin at 10:30 a.m. The ceremony and party will start at 11 a.m. Participants should arrive at 9 a.m. to get their number and place for the run. Firecracker Four-Miler: Come out for the Fourth Annual Firecracker 4 miler in the All American City! The course is designed as a historic tour of downtown Fayetteville. Competitive runners, recreational runners, walkers, kids, strollers and dogs are all invited. The course starts and finishes on the streets of Fayetteville at the intersection of Walter and Hillsboro streets, which is located between the North Carolina State Veterans Park and the Airborne and Special Operations Museum. 3rd Annual African World Peace Festival 5K Road Race and Walk: This event, held July 15, is a fund raiser for the Loving Hands International and the Cultural and Heritage Alliance. Fun parts of the celebration include a parade highlighting the different cultures, fashions, music, drumming and dancing performers, arts/craft displays, special African cuisine, health and wellness (free screening), as well as Family-oriented activities and education.
