Fort Bragg’s two golf courses had their chance to shine during the 8th Annual Fort Bragg Invitational, Saturday and Sunday.
“The courses are in great shape right now,” said Jeff Johnson, director of golf, Stryker Golf Course.
The tournament is unique because it is played over two rounds that utilize both Ryder and Stryker Golf Courses, Johnson explained. The 36-Hole stroke play tournament started at Ryder Golf Course on Saturday.
Players were divided into three divisions: Men, Senior Men and Super Senior Men. After day one, Chuck Latham led the Super Senior Division, and was able to hold onto the lead to finish first with 138.
Marv Houghton led the Senior Division by one stroke after the first round, but Chuck Mohn shot a 65 on day two to take the division title with 141.
In the Men’s Division, Chris Holland took the lead at Ryder Golf Course and didn’t look back. He finished the tournament with 145, four strokes under the second place finisher.
