Memorial monument: Members of the 313th Military Intelligence Battalion will dedicate a memorial monument at the Airborne and Special Operations Museum, Saturday, at 11 a.m. All are invited to attend the event. The 313th MI Bn. dates back to the Vietnam War and was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division before deactivation in 2006. The memorial is to honor those who gave their lives in peace and combat.
Volunteers needed: The American Red Cross is in need of volunteers at Fort Bragg to work with our military members and veterans. The Red Cross is specifically searching for volunteers to work in Womack Army Medical Center to assist with greeting patients, assist managing phone calls and emails, drive a shuttle for patients, and to serve in clinical positions. They are seeking volunteers Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Red Cross provides free training to its volunteers. Lifeguard classes: Fort Bragg Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Aquatics is offering the 2017 American Red Cross Lifeguarding Course. Participants must be at least 15 years of age on or before the initial scheduled session of this course. Attendance to all classes is required for successful completion of the course. Pre-qualification test will occur at 8 a.m. on the first day of each course. Registration ends two weeks prior to start date of course.

Class #1: Saturday, Sept. 16 and 23 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 17 and 24 from noon to 5 p.m. Class #2: Oct. 7, 14, 21 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Oct. 8, 15, 22 from noon to 5 p.m. Class #3: Nov. 4, 11, 18 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Nov. 5, 12, 19 from noon to 5 p.m. Class #4: Dec. 2, 9, 16 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Dec. 3, 10, 17 from noon to 5 p.m. Class #5: Dec. 18 to 22 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $50 non-refundable for the pre-qualification class and $150 for the lifeguard class.
