It’s never too early or late to show customer appreciation. As such, the Directorate of Human Resources celebrated Customer Service Appreciation Week, Oct. 2 to 6, at its footprint in the Soldier Support Center (2843 Normandy Drive).
This year’s theme was Building Trust, said Arthur Nelson, Personnel Automation Chief, DHR, and celebrated anyone who comes through the Soldier Support Center.
The celebration week kicked off with a performance by the 82nd Airborne Division Band.
According to Antuenet Jones, chief, Personnel Services Branch, some weekly activities included teambuilding exercises such as constructing a tower out of cans and then donating those cans to a local food shelter facilitated by an 82nd Abn. Div. chaplain; receiving customer service training from Womack Army Medical Center instructor Jeffrey Thomas; viewing a video presentation in which all participants were asked to describe customer service in one word; DHR employees sharing lunch provided by the directorate; and listening to closing remarks by Nan Sanders, DHR director.
All SSC customers were invited to join in Customer Service Week activities, Jones said.
Employees will continue to go out of their way to assist customers whether they are standing in line before the SSC opens or they stop in during an employee’s lunch hour, she explained. The employees will stop and greet customers and provide directions when they are lost.
“Whatever we can do to make the customer’s visit better, we are striving to do …,” said Jones. “Our focus is building team spirit by making a difference with our customer and with our community.”
