Some of the ABS mission, according to its website, is to develop and foster a spirit of community, as well as providing scholarships to spouses and dependent children.
The association is available to active-duty U.S. Armed Forces members and their spouses assigned to and residing in the Fort Bragg area. Associate memberships are available to retirees and spouses.
Yule Mart is a craft fair event that celebrates its 27th anniversary this year, offering items such as organic candles, crochet and wood-engraved products, said Priscila Cruz, wife of a Fort Bragg Soldier.
She said, “(The craft) has to be 90 percent homemade. It’s a way that local vendors can get their names known.”
Yule Mart is a Family event that also offers children access to Santa’s Secret Workshop, which allows them to choose $5 items that can be gift-wrapped and given to loved ones at Christmas.
Local vendors donate items such as toys, scarves, etc.
This year’s wish list for Santa’s Secret Workshop includes items for:
Children. Balls, dolls, stuffed animals, cars and trucks, princess items, action toys, etc.
Babies. Baby toys, blankets, bibs, clothes, burp clothes, hats, shoes, etc.
Women and girls. Beauty supplies, nail kits, bath/spa items, jewelry, scarves, hats, etc.
Men and boys. Camping gear, bath/shower items, flashlights, sporting equipment, etc.
Pets. Toys, dishes, collars, treats, fish/reptile tank décor, bird seed, etc.
The drop off locations is the Bragg Unique Boutique at the Soldier Support Center, Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (2843 Normandy Drive). If a pick-up needs to be arranged, contact Cruz at 864-329-4250.
