Yoga in the Garden: Cape Fear Botanical Garden and YMCA of the Sandhills have partnered together for Yoga in the Garden, Wednesday. Grab a yoga mat and rejuvenate at a peaceful yoga session in the beautiful Orangery at the Cape Fear Botanical Garden from 6 to 7 p.m. Improve flexibility, build strength, ease tension and relax through posture and breathing techniques for beginners and experts alike. Friday Fight Night: Come out for a night of fun at Sports USA. Anyone can participate, Dec. 15, at 7:30 p.m. Extensive boxing experience is not allowed. This is for fun. Advance tickets available at Sports USA. Open to the public. Cost is $10.
Turkey Shoot: The annual event will be held at the Clay Target Center, Friday and Saturday, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Shotguns only, shells provided, no scopes. There will be turkeys and hams awarded as well as door prize drawings. Shotgun rental and ear protection are for sale at the clubhouse or shooters can bring their own. Winter Bootcamp: Come beat the holiday bulge with a kick-butt workout with trainer Monika from Under Construction Personal Training, Dec. 16, at 9 a.m. She is insured and certified through the National Personal Training Institute. The workout will take place at The Runners Spot in downtown Fayetteville. The cost is $5 per person (cash or PayPal). That includes an hour bootcamp, a coupon for a free one-on-one training session and a chance to win a free month of training). Spaces are limited so sign up at The Runner’s Spot.
Combat Cross Country: Held at Smith Lake Recreation Area, Jan. 20, 2018, at 9 a.m. The course distance is approximately 11 miles. All competitors are required to carry a ruck weighing 35 pounds. The meet will involve both team and individual competition. Open to active-duty service members only. The top five male and top five female competitors will be sent to compete in the Bataan Memorial Death March taking place March 25, 2018 in White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico to represent Fort Bragg.
Ugly Sweater Beer Mile: With three events packed into one awesome day of fun at the Railhouse Brewery in Aberdeen, North Carolina, this is one of the biggest beer mile events around. It will start at 2 p.m., Dec. 16. Sign up for all three and max out the fun. Kids are free to enter the Kid’s Shuttle Run and will get some swag to take home.
Ryan’s Reindeer Run: The Twelfth Annual Ryan’s Reindeer 5K Run is a challenging 5K with a few hills, Dec. 16. The 5K run/walk starts and ends at the Medical Arts Parking Lot entrance on Hay Street in downtown Fayetteville. The race immediately goes up Haymount Hill and passes through the Haymount area neighborhoods. Timing is provided. Prizes are awarded in various categories. Festive costumes are encouraged. There are two entry categories: individual and Family. Family entrants are not eligible for the individual awards. Pets on leash are allowed but must be controlled at all times. All American Marathon: Fort Bragg Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, in conjunction with the City of Fayetteville presents the annual All American Marathon, the Mike to Mike Half Marathon and the All American 5K.
