At 2:03 a.m., Jan. 1, Saige Zawadi Sigilai becomes the first baby born at Womack Army Medical Center in the new year. The first child of parents Rosemary Masu Onjiko and Peter Sigilai, Saige weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces. Her parents are both from Kenya, with her father serving in the 82nd Airborne Division Sustainment Brigade. Saige is not only the first baby born in 2018 at Womack, but also in Cumberland County.
“We have a perfect gift for 2018,” Rosemary said. Saige’s middle name, Zawadi, means “gift” in Swahili.
