Troops to Teachers: The North Carolina Troops to Teachers program coordinator is offering an information briefing 1 - 3 p.m., Wednesday, at the Bragg Training and Education Center at 4520 Knox St., Building 1-3571. Military members, National Guard members and Reservists are invited to learn about a unique opportunity to put military skills to use in public schools.
Specifically, the briefing will inform participants about the teaching profession, the steps required to earn a teaching license, and employment opportunities in public education.

New BTEC appointment system: The Bragg Training and Education Center has set up an appointment system to service all education counseling needs. The new convenient appointment system allows patrons to have a scheduled appointment time to meet with an education counselor.
Once an appointment is confirmed, the patron will receive an email and a reminder email 24 hours prior to the appointment. The confirmation email will have a link to either cancel or reschedule an appointment if necessary.
Walk-in services will continue to be available to enroll in the Basic Skills Education Program and this system will not be used for testing appointments.

Upcoming USO events: The USO of NC is hosting Flapjack Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m. on March 13 at the USO of NC Fort Bragg Center. Free pancakes are available while supplies last.
On March 14, the USO of NC is hosting a Donut Drop at the Fort Bragg Reception Company formation at 8:30 a.m. The reception is located on Normandy Drive on the right before you cross Reilly Road if you are coming from the Soldier Support Center.
2018 US Army Officer Candidate School Alumni Association Reunion: The OCS Alumni Association represents all Army officers commissioned through any Officer Candidate School, regardless of previous locations or branch affiliation.
The OCS is located at Fort Benning, Ga. and continues to serve as a principal venue for officer accessions for the Army.
This reunion will include a Hall of Fame induction ceremony, reception and formal dinner that will include the presentation of the Patterson Award. The reunion will be conducted at the Columbus Marriott Hotel, 800 Front Ave., Columbus, Ga. 31901.

ABS scholarships for high school seniors and continuing education students: The Association of Bragg Spouses Scholarship season opened Feb. 1 for high school seniors and continuing education students. All applications must be post marked no later than March 31.

Attention non-profits: The Association of Bragg Spouses Welfare Committee is now accepting applications from nonprofit organizations for its annual distribution. Applications can be picked up at the Bragg Unique Boutique, located at the Solder Support Center.

75th Anniversary Commemoration of the first U.S. Army mass parachute drop: You are invited to participate in a World War II Ceremony being conducted by Kershaw County, South Carolina, Post 17 American Legion and the WWII C-47 Club, 82nd Airborne Division, Inc., on March 29, at 2:30 p.m., to Commemorate the first U.S. Army mass parachute drop’s 75th Anniversary.
The event will be held at the site of the 82nd Airborne Division Monument on Highway U.S. 1 between Elgin, S.C. and Camden, S.C. adjacent to US 1 on the Invista Company Property, 643 Hwy U.S, 1, Lugoff, S.C.
This ceremony will commemorate those who participated in the “Jump”, all WWII veterans and veterans of all wars/conflicts.
Persons/groups expected to attend include Chap. Alvin Sykes, Congressman Ralph Norman, Congressman Joe Wilson, Retired Maj. Gen. Julian Burns USA, Chairman Kershaw County Council, US Army Historian and Author Mr. Robert Anzuoni, American Legion Post 6/17, American Legion Riders Post 6, Patriot Guard Riders, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Marine Corps League and others.
