“You don’t make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved,” according to Ansel Adams, photographer and environmentalist.
Each story I write, page I design or photo I take will reflect the mentorship and friendship of Alyson Hansen, photographer, graphic designer, and writer.
For two years Aly has, as the Paraglide’s graphic designer, contributed her expertise to the newspaper’s look and content.
Beyond graphic design, Aly has also contributed her photographic talent and skilled writing. Working beyond her job title, Aly’s focus has always been contributing her skills to telling the “Fort Bragg Story.”
She has worked with commitment, professionalism and talent to contribute to and report on the Fort Bragg community.
Last week, Aly laid out her last paper, marking the end of her time at the Paraglide.
But, for Aly, it is a beginning: she will be focusing on her photography, art and assistant directorship of the Fort Bragg figure skating program.
Always a willing participant in adventures, from finding food trucks to meeting the occasional celebrity, working at the Paraglide will not be the same without her.
She will be missed, but I can’t wait to see the exciting new adventures, and fantastic new projects that come from the amazing things she will do next.
