Mountain Motor Show returns to Ag Center

The Mountain Motor Show, powered by 105.9 the Mountain, returns for a third year Saturday at the WNC Ag Center Expo Building from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“We’ll have seven decades of automotive awesomeness in one spot,” says Mountain Morning co-host Brian Blades. “Everything from a 1958 fire truck from the New York Fire Department to a new customized Jeep Wrangler that looks ready to tackle any trail in the Blue Ridge.”

Catherine Bach, who played Daisy Duke on The Dukes of Hazzard from 1979 to 1985, will be this year’s special guest, thanks to Classic Paint and Body.

“She has so many great stories, including how one of her co-stars taught her how to handle her Jeep on the back roads,” says Mountain co-host Aimee Moon. “She loves sharing behind-the-scenes stories with fans, and will be signing autographs and taking pictures with people at the show.”

There are cash prizes for the winner in each class, including classics, customs/hot rods, tuners/imports, exotics, 4x4s/trucks, and motorcycles. Top prizes include $500 for “Best In Show" and $250 for “People’s Choice.”

Admission to the Mountain Motor Show is $8, with tickets available at the door. Kids 12 and under get in free.

Invitational art exhibit at Carolina Village

Carolina Village is hosting an inaugural Invitational Art Exhibit, titled “Village Art”, in its facility on Carolina Village Road in Hendersonville. The exhibit will adorn the walls of Carolina Village’s “Main Street” area during April and May. Each subsequent exhibit will be on display for two months.

Fourteen local artists have been selected for the display. The works range from oil and acrylic paintings, pastels, watercolors, and mixed media. Subject matter is varied, governed by whatever interests the artist. Original paintings of landscapes, portraits, florals, still life, animals, and other non-objective work may be seen. Giclee reproductions will be displayed in one area.

The first exhibit opens on Monday and runs through May 30. The public is invited to view the exhibit at any time during the period. For more information call 828-890-5777.
