The Greenville County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who died after a fight Wednesday night at a Greer hotel as Zachery Bruton.
Investigators say Bruton, 25, of Locust Drive in Greer, died of cardiac arrest Wednesday at the Quality Inn on West Wade Hampton Boulevard.
Officers responded to the hotel shortly after 10 p.m. in reference to a call regarding a man assaulting a woman, according to a police incident report.
Police said they began to speak with Bruton, who was identified by hotel staff as the suspect. That’s when police said Bruton requested help from EMS.
A short time later, police said Bruton became unresponsive and officers began CPR, which was continued by paramedics. Bruton later died.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is assisting local investigators on this case.
