Paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division recently conducted live-fire exercises on Fort Bragg to improve their effectiveness against an armored enemy.
Paratroopers assigned to Company D, 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division conducted live-fire exercises with Tube-Launched, Optically Tracked, Wire-Guided missiles Saturday on Fort Bragg.
“Live firing TOW missiles is indispensable training. It is the ultimate test of the gunner’s skills and equipment,” said Capt. Michael Nilsen, the Company Commander. “From optics to Global positioning and the gunner’s targeting ability, TOW live fire demonstrates the effectiveness of Delta Company against enemy armored threats.”
The live-fire exercise helped the paratroopers improve their ability to counter armored threats they could encounter on future drop zones and included numerous scenarios testing their responses.
