Editor: There was a recent item in the paper about a so called church in California that passes around marijuana during its services. (‘High praise,’ Jan. 20) This is about the most idiotic thing I've ever heard of. This is not a church at all. This is just a building that a few people gather in to use as a place to smoke pot and say mock prayers so they can call it a church.

Let me tell you what a real church is. A real church is a group of true born-again believers that meet together two or three times a week to fellowship with their fellow believers and to sing praises to and worship God and also to hear the word of God preached. A church that passes around pot is not a church. As a matter of fact, they can say all the prayers they want to but God is nowhere near a place like that.

The article went on to say that these churches are growing in popularity. That may be true but that don't make it right. The Bible says in II Timothy 4:3-4, "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears. And they shall turn their ears away from the truth, and shall be turned into fables." That's the day we're living in and it's just one sign that we're right on the verge of the coming of the Lord.
