To the editor:

Can someone out there in newspaper land tell me who is responsible for the new sod that was introduced to our beautiful veterans cemetery a few moons ago? Obviously they were never introduced to the concept that “if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it!”

For years the cemetery grounds took my breath away on my visits. The sight of the aligned gravestones, boldly and proudly resting on top of our loved ones graves was awesome, not just at Christmas with all the wreaths lying on the graves or Memorial Day with the flags at each site but every day. It was a sight to behold.

Now visitors are treated to walking in ankle deep grass that makes many headstones invisible to the naked eye. Some are being covered with dying creeper strands of something. Not only are our loved ones resting in holes in the ground their headstones have joined them. It’s like they all belong to “a hole in the ground gang.” It’s disgusting, our deceased loved ones deserve better treatment than this.
