Get the clubs out: The next Commanding General’s Pay Day Golf Scramble is scheduled for July 7, at Ryder Golf Course. Registration is at 10:30 a.m. for a noon shotgun start with a meal following the tournament. The event is open to the public and is an 18-hole scramble. A tie for the championship will be settled by a scorecard playoff beginning with the #1 handicap hole. Entry fee is $140 per team or $35 per person, and fees include green and cart fees, range balls before tournament, meal with trimmings and refreshments, as well as prizes and awards ceremony. Junior Golf Clinics: The next session of the Junior Golf Clinic is Monday, Wednesday and July 14, at Stryker Golf Course. Each session lasts from 8:30 to 11 a.m. with lunch right after the clinic. Each session is $20 per student, and are limited to the first 20 students. The clinics are open to military and Department of Defense dependents, ages 6 to 16 years old. SwampDogs, Yoga and Stuff: Come out for an amazing evening of Yoga in the Outfield at J.P. Riddle Stadium in Fayetteville, July 15. The event will also include food trucks, music and mingling. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for tours of the stadium, for saving a yoga spot and to meet and greet with others. The fee for this awesome event is only $5. Imagine practicing with 300 yogis to the left and right. The yoga session begins at 6:30 p.m. with Hayat and the Tribe. At 7:30 p.m., doors open to all for music, laughter, beer garden, food, photos, picnic and all other stuff.
Friday Fight Night: Come out for a night of fun and help support Children of the Fallen Project, a group formed to help children of men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. 8th Annual Fort Bragg Invitational: July 22 to 23 at Ryder Golf Course and Stryker Golf Course. This is a 36-Hole Stroke Play Tournament played on both Ryder (Round 1) and Stryker (Round 2) flighted by Round 1 scores. This is a gross scores only tournament. The field will be divided into three divisions: Men (all ages), Senior Men (55 and older) and Super Senior Men (65 and older). Fort Bragg 5K Walk/Run: The next Fort Bragg 5K is July 22, at Longstreet and Reilly roads, near Hedrick Stadium. The event is free and open to Department of Defense card holders and their guests. No registration required. Strollers and dogs are welcome. There will be a raffle for gifts and prizes at 10 a.m., as well as Wellness and Healthy Living vendors.
Beach Bash Pub Run/Walk: Come join Fleet Feet Sports Runners Spot, Latitude 35, Huske Hardware and Fayetteville Running Club on Friday, at 6:30 p.m. for a 2-mile pub run. Come dressed in board shorts, beach themed shirts, visors, lobster or shark costumes, and Family friendly attire. This is a Family friendly, pet-friendly event and stroller friendly event.
3rd Annual African World Peace Festival 5K Road Race and Walk: This event, held July 15, is a fund raiser for the Loving Hands International and the Cultural and Heritage Alliance. Fun parts of the celebration include a parade highlighting the different cultures, fashions, music, drumming and dancing performers, arts/craft displays, special African cuisine, health and wellness (free screening), as well as Family-oriented activities and education.
