“Weight creep” caught up to you during the holidays? Do you want to finally keep your New Year’s resolution this year?! If so, then Jump into Shape is just what you need!
Jump into Shape addresses the physical and environmental demands faced by Department of Defense civilians, retired members, Reservists and beneficiaries that hinders their ability to improve health and well-being. It is a six-week, healthy lifestyle initiative developed by the Womack Nutrition Care Division.
The program’s primary intent is to fulfill the vision of the surgeon general by implementing all aspects of the Performance Triad — Sleep, Activity, and Nutrition. We want to encourage healthy lifestyle practices by increasing fruit, vegetable and water consumption, exercising at least 45 minutes, four to five times a week, and getting adequate sleep. Members are encouraged to participate in weigh-ins, body fat analysis, nutrition classes and to record food and water consumption, fitness, and sleep in a weekly log.
Prizes will be awarded to the individual with the highest number of points earned throughout the program.
In 2014, Jump Into Shapers lost a total of 148 pounds and 51 inches. They also decreased their body mass index from obese to a healthier weight range.
