A Symphonic Salute to the US Armed Forces

Fayetteville Symphony will start off with Quiet Heroes. Quiet Heroes is a narrated symphonic suite based on the book Flags of our Fathers. It is a symphonic salute to the flag raisers at Iwo Jima. It is narrated by Wilford Brimley. Following Quiet Heroes, the Army Ground Forces Band will play a short concert. Then the symphony and the Army Ground Forces Band will come together for the finale. Coca-Cola 600

The stars of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series do battle in stock car racing’s true endurance test. Don’t miss the patriotic pre-race salute to the U.S. armed forces, which will include an air parade featuring at least 10 vintage war birds, a patriotic flyover and an American bald eagle circling the infield during the national anthem. Fans can kick off the Memorial Day weekend early with the Coca-Cola Family Track Walk and a kickoff to summer concert with country music megastar Trace Adkins on Friday. Entry into the track walk and concert are free with a Coca-Cola 600 race ticket.

Run for the troops:

6th Annual ASOMF Run for the Legend:
