Fort Bragg’s new Chay Youth Activities Center will be dedicated during a ceremony Monday at 10 a.m. in theLinden Oaks community.
The facility is named in honor of Staff Sgt. Kyu H. Chay, a cryptologic linguist who was assigned to the Headquarters and Service Company, 1
Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group.
Chay, 34, served as special operations assistant team leader. He died Oct. 28, 2006, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his humvee in Afghanistan.
Chay entered the Army in January 2001 as a cryptologic linguist. His initial assignment was with the 313
Military Intelligence Battalion, 82
Airborne Division, where he served as a team and squad leader.
The ceremony will include unveiling the Chay plaque, a presentation to the Chay Family and an on-site reception.
The Fort Bragg Garrison Commander Col. Jeffrey Sanborn will be present to make remarks.
United States Army Special Forces Command Deputy Commanding General Col. Randall Zeegers will be the guest speaker.
