Putting it simply, my Family is broke. I can’t understand why we are living paycheck to paycheck. My husband is a specialist and makes enough money to cover our bills, I cut coupons, and we rarely spend money on ourselves. I don’t understand that by four to five days after getting paid, we have only double digits in our accounts.
I have a hard time budgeting as well. I don’t know if you have children, but add a child or 3, and your money goes in a day or so. But budgeting is the key. Sounds like you’re on the right track with couponing. There is a group on post that meets ever so often to teach you how to coupon. If you go to any of the Facebook Fort Bragg support groups, somewhere there can point you in the right direction.
Also, Army Community Service offers numerous financial classes throughout the month. Classes like “Financial Planning for Newlyweds,” “Credit Repair Workshop,” “Cooking on a Budget Workshop,” and “Personal Financial Management Training” are just a few they are offering in September. If you’re interested, go to www.fortbraggmwr.com and click on the ACS event calendar tab to find out more about the classes.
The Financial Readiness Program is also another resource available to you. They talk about budgeting, debt management, savings and investments.

You may just need to sit down and write out every bill you pay on payday, every expense, and every cent you spend just to see where the money is going. Seeing it on paper may really make it clear and help you decide what money goes to what bill each paycheck.
I’ll leave the rest to the professionals, I’m not the best person to talk about budgeting — I keep hoping to win the Powerball! Good luck and hang in there.
