Cape Fear Railways has won the Can the Can Contest for America Recycles Day.
How did they earn a $200 voucher credit for Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation services? Simple — they recycled.
Cape Fear Railways participates in the Recycling Incentives Program. Any currently participating agency that recycled materials or any agency that registered for the program between Nov. 5 and 16, was entered into a drawing for the FMWR voucher credit. Cape Fear Railways was randomly selected from 119 agencies that competed in the contest.
In the Recycling Incentives Program, participating units and agencies on the installation collect plastic bottles, aluminum cans, office paper and cardboard. Then, they deliver those recyclables to the Fort Bragg Recycling Center, where the materials are weighed and recorded. Every quarter, Bragg about Recycling translates those weights into vouchers. Organizations enrolled in the program can then use those vouchers at FMWR facilities.
