U.S. Army Forces Command’s own Army Ground Forces Band will provide a free, open-to-the-public holiday concert at the Crown Theatre at 7 p.m., Dec. 15.
The concert’s theme is “Home for the Holidays.” It is a celebration of Families coming together during the most wonderful time of year.
No tickets are required for this general admission performance.
“We look forward to sharing the warmth and joy of the holiday season with the citizens of this great community and we appreciate having the opportunity to say thank you for their year-round support of our Soldiers and their Families,” said Capt. Daniel Toven, band commander.
The concert will feature a moving rendition of “Christmas Eve Sarajevo,” as well as traditional favorites such as “Let it Snow,” “March of the Toys” and “Feliz Navidad.”
There will be special appearances by Santa, members of the U.S. Army Parachute Team, “Golden Knights” and more than 100, area high school students who will lend their voices to ring in the holiday spirit.
The Army Ground Forces Band and its various ensembles, or music performance teams, provide musical support for the Army’s largest command, U.S. Army Forces Command (www.army.mil/forscom). As just one of only three Army bands with a national touring mission, the band and its MPTs travel the nation, performing at local, regional and national events.
The 64 Soldiers assigned to the Army Ground Forces Band have passed highly selective auditions and are among the finest musicians in the Army Band Program.
