The Fort Bragg Tax Center will open its doors for the upcoming tax season on Jan. 23, 2017, at 9 a.m.
The Tax Center provides free tax preparation and electronic filing for federal and all state tax returns. The center is located on the 6th floor of the Soldier Support Center on Normandy Drive.
On Jan. 20, the appointment line will open at 9 a.m. We encourage service members, Family members and retirees to make an appointment by calling 396-8299. Assistance is provided on an appointment and walk-in basis.
The hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, closing on training and federal holidays. The center will no longer be open in the evenings or weekends.
Active-duty service members, including Reservists and National Guardsmen on active-duty orders for more than 29 days, Family members and retirees are encouraged to take advantage of the Tax Center. Retired Reservist and National Guardsmen must be receiving their retirement pay to be entitled to services at the Tax Center.
When having returns prepared, taxpayers must:
Arrive at the Tax Center no later than one hour before closing.
Bring all W2 Forms, income and tax documents. Military W2s can be downloaded from the DFAS MyPay website at https://mypay.dfas.mil. A copy of a leave and earning statement cannot be used.
Bring military/dependent/retiree ID card.
Bring a current power of attorney if filing for another person or filing married without your spouse present
If taxpayers want to get their refund faster by direct deposit, they must also bring a bank routing number and account number.
