The Fort Bragg Special Operations Recruiting Battalion is hosting the Nasty Nick Challenge once again, Nov. 18.
“See if you have what it takes to step up to one of the many challenges faced by those chosen warriors,” challenges the event’s registration website. “Walk the hallowed ground where so many have come before you. Find out if you have what it takes to be Special Forces!”
However, because the only challengers can attend the competition, Fort Bragg SORB has added an additional dimension to this year’s event.
Family members and friends are invited to participate in the Nasty Nick Challenge Packet Pickup.
The packet pickup has been crafted into an expo with fun for the whole military Family.
“In the SOF (Special Operation Forces) community, the Families are the most critical piece to the Soldier’s readiness,” said Sgt. 1st Class Alex Martinez, station commander, Fort Bragg Special Operations Recruiting Center.
The focus of the packet pickup event is primarily Families having fun, explained Martinez.
“We want to create a climate that is different … we want them to see the SOF organization has a climate that is very appealing to Families,” he said.
The Nasty Nick Challenge Packet Pickup will offer static displays from Psychological Operations, Civil Affairs and Special Forces, as well as, a variety of giveaways from vendors, many of which will include SOF veteran-run business. Food for the event will be a SORB-run barbecue, and games and bounce houses will be set up for attendees.
Registration for the Nasty Nick Challenge is currently open at, and same day registration will be available during the packet pickup, but all are welcome; registered, planning to register or just looking for a Family friendly event on a Friday.
The Nasty Nick Challenge Packet Pickup can be found on Nov. 17 in front of Company D, Building C-5439, Bastogne Drive, Fort Bragg and will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
