All international spouses are invited to register for the International Spouse Orientation, Tuesday, from 9 to 11:30 a.m., at the Soldier Support Center (Building 4-2843 Normandy Drive). The class is offered through the Multicultural Readiness Program.
The program, according to its website, provides service members and their Families access to international services and strives to minimize cultural and language barriers while enhancing quality of life. It is a component of Fort Bragg Army Community Service.
Rita Dickerson, MRP manager, said it’s important for spouses to attend the orientation.
“They get information about services that are available to them … we also provide information about citizenship and immigration services,” Dickerson said. “We have briefers that will come in and they will go over information that they have available.”
Attendees will also receive information pertaining to medical services, employment, obtaining a driver’s license, English as a second language and other resources.
Registration is required and can be completed online at
Other MRP events include a glass box craft class and potluck, Dec. 1, from 9 a.m. to noon and a United States Citizenship Immigration orientation, Dec. 12, from 9 a.m. to 11:30.
Dickerson said of the latter, “There are a lot of new changes coming out, so it’s important to get updated information.”
Therein lies some of the work of MRP — keeping service members and their Families informed.
