The Fort Bragg Tax Center will open Monday, Jan. 22, at 9 a.m. The Tax Center provides free tax preparation, electronic filing and tax form distribution for federal and all state tax returns.
The Tax Center is located on the sixth floor of the Soldier Support Center on Normandy Drive. The Tax Center will have dedicated phone numbers for appointment scheduling beginning Jan. 19 at 9 a.m. Those numbers are 396-1040 or 396-8299 (TAXX).
The hours of operation are from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Tax Center will be closed Saturdays, Sundays and all holidays.
Service members, Family members and retirees are encouraged to take advantage of the Tax Center.
Assistance is provided by appointment or on a walk-in basis. However, appointments are highly recommended. If you are a walk-in client, you must arrive at least one hour prior to closing.
In order to have returns prepared, taxpayers must:
Bring your W2 forms, which can be downloaded from the DFAS MyPay website at https://mypay.dfas.mil. A copy of a Leave and Earnings Statement cannot be used.
Bring your military/dependent/retiree ID card.
Bring a Power of Attorney if filing for another person or filing “married filing jointly” without your spouse present and any tax forms they have received in the mail.
If you want to receive an expedited refund via direct deposit, you must also bring a canceled check.
The Tax Center cannot prepare or file taxes without this necessary paperwork.
The Tax Center is not authorized to prepare any tax returns this year involving rental properties, business income or cancellation of debts. You must either prepare those returns yourself or seek a paid professional.
