Here at the Paraglide we care about all our readers, and in honor of April being Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, I’d like to personally extend the opportunity for our readers to contribute to the task of sexual assault awareness and prevention.
In order to make Fort Bragg a safer place for everyone who lives and works here, I invite you to offer suggestions, words of support and a stance in solidarity for sexual assault survivors.
According to, one out of every six women in the United States has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime. Proper education on what is sexual assault, what constitutes consent and what makes a healthy relationship are all beneficial ways to protect yourself and others around you. A plethora of activities in honor of SAAPM are being offered by the SHARP initiative right here at Fort Bragg.
Fort Bragg is special to us all for many reasons. It’s more than just a place to go to work: it’s home. In honor of that I invite you all to submit your ideas for protecting yourselves and each other to be printed here on the Opinion page as a way to encourage and support survivors of sexual assault. If you would like to contribute, please send your submissions to

Thank you.
