From June 25th through August 3rd they hope to be reaching out to all the kids of the Fort Bragg community enriching their lives through free food.
Gordon Elementary Linden Oaks has the vision to be among the World's leaders in education, enriching the lives of military-connected students and the communities in which they live. This is evident in all aspects of the school, from the classrooms to the cafeteria.
This Summer the cafeteria is planning something special. From June 25th through August 3rd they hope to be reaching out to all the kids of the Fort Bragg community enriching their lives through free food. Children ages 2-18 years of age can eat entire meals for free. These meals are only provided at lunch which runs from 11:30 am to 1 pm every day Monday through Friday.
This program caters to military families as a whole. An adult is welcome to join their kids during any lunch for a portion of the regular lunch cost. Adults can pay $1.50 for a whole tray, $0.75 for a bowl, and $0.50 for a glass of milk. Sharing lunch with your kids during the busy summer months can make lasting lifetime memories, for an exceptionally low cost. Studies prove that having meals together as a family not only increases the bond between the family members but it also leads to better grades as well.
The summer is already hectic enough trying to get the kids to their programs and get to work on time. Gordon Elementary is showing their dedication to the military community in more ways than one. It’s easy to see why their motto, of expecting the extraordinary, is so fitting.
